Running an Archive Node

Overview

Archive nodes store historical message data and serve historical queries. Incentive mechanisms for archive operators are implementation-defined and may evolve.

Requirements

Full Archive

RAM	16 GB+
CPU	4+ cores
Bandwidth	100 Mbps+

Sharded Archive

Resource	Requirement
Storage	50-100 GB per shard
RAM	8 GB
CPU	2+ cores
Bandwidth	50 Mbps

Quick Start

1. Choose Your Mode

# Full archive (all history)
obsidian-archive --mode full

# Sharded archive (specific epochs)
obsidian-archive --mode shard --epochs 2001-3000

2. Sync Data

# Initial sync from network
obsidian-archive --sync

3. Start Serving

obsidian-archive --serve

Monitoring

Track your node's performance:

• Queries served

• Uptime percentage

• Reward accumulation

• Storage usage

Nodes with poor uptime risk slashing.
